Navy was declared the overall winner of the Interservice Triathlon held at HMAS Stirling, on April 2.

Thirty-three entrants took part in the event, but one started four minutes after the pack as they had forgotten their helmet for the bike leg.

There were competitors from all three services, ranging from professional triathletes to beginners.

The overall winners were Navy, followed by Army and RAAF.

First across the line was Flight Lieutenant Malcolm Walker, a 26-year-old from Perth.

Malcolm has been in the RAAF for seven years and is a pilot with 34 Squadron at RAAF Base Pearce 2nd Flight Training School. Malcolm is a serious Triathlete and trains every day to keep fit for the events.

Second was SGT Doug Stewart (Army) and third Leading Seaman Marine Technician Danny Burgess (Navy).

The first woman across the line was Private Bernadette Rogasa, a 36-year-old from Newcastle, NSW. Bernadette has been in the Army for seven years. She won the same race two years ago.

This is the first race that she has entered since giving birth to her second child seven months ago.
