CPOCSM Andrew Kemp HMAS Stirling has made a real multicultural meal of celebrating Australia’s Harmony Day.

The Stirling (CMDR Philip Orchard) Ship’s Company was joined by Republic of Singapore Navy and other Australian Defence personnel for a special lunch, with more than 350 people enjoying the occasion together.

And in true harmony, the Junior Sailors’ Mess hosted an all-ranks open buffet with the catering staff providing dishes from around the globe including Italy and Europe, Asia and the Pacific.

Established by Department of Immigration, Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs six years ago, Harmony Day gives community groups, businesses, schools and individuals the opportunity to celebrate multiculturalism and recommit to continuing tolerance and understanding.

It coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racism.
