Sydney (CMDR Peter Quinn) celebrated her 21st birthday following
Fleet Divisions at Fleet Base East last month, in the city for
which the ship is named.
CMDR Quinn served up a birthday cake to members of the Ships
company, and the guest of honour, Maritime Commander RADM Raydon
Gates.
During the last 21 years, Sydney has visited 40 countries, been
on eight operational deployments and steamed some 722,045.9 nautical
miles.
Sydney is undergoing improvements which will ensure she remains
a frontline unit for many more years.
She is the first FFG to be upgraded in a $1 billion program which
includes the latest technology in her attack and defence capabilities.
