Commodore
Jack McCaffrie, AM, CSM, RANR, has been awarded the US Legion
of Merit for his outstanding service as Naval Attache, Washington,
during the period 2000– 2002.
CDRE
McCaffrie is currently serving as the Sea Power Centre Australia’s
Visiting Naval Fellow.
At the presentation it was remarked that CDRE McCaffrie’s
contribution had enhanced understanding, improved cooperation
and strengthened relations between the United States Navy (USN)
and the RAN.
His efforts had also fostered a stronger partnership and reinforced
mutual trust between the two navies, better preparing both services
for bilateral and coalition operations.
He was instrumental in the provision of support to Operation Enduring
Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism.
The presentation took place at the Sea Power Centre on December
15, where a cocktail reception was held to mark the occasion.
