Successful
strike
A Kalkara launched from the RANs Jervis Bay airfield has
had a wingtip burner smashed by a new ASRAAM missile fired by
an RAAF Hornet jet.
The successful strike, which pleased everyone concerned, was part
of the qualifications of the new missile by the AIR5400 Project
Office.
The ARDU Hornet fired the missile in fine weather off the NSW
coast. Earlier, technicians at Jervis Bay had removed the Kalkaras
usual tows and launchers in favour of infra-red wingtip burners.
