Wollongong returns from Op Anode

The Fremantle Class Patrol Boat HMAS Wollongong, and her 26 ship’s company, have returned after two months away contributing to Operation Anode in the waters off the Solomon Islands.

They were welcomed home by friends and family.

Wollongong’s task was to provide protection and general support to the participating police forces of the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands.

They also assisted with humanitarian tasks.

Wollongong worked alongside the Australian Federal Police, Army, and ships Manoora, Betano, Diamantina, and Brunei during her operational deployment.

HMAS Wollongong’s return is part of the drawdown from Operation Anode that was announced recently.
