Stirling soccer skills on show

SOCCER

Despite the weather, seven teams competed for the HMAS Stirling 2003 Soccer Knockout Competition.

Defending champion Perth Police was back to defend its title along with 2001 winner Bunbury Police and the Fire and Emergency Services (FESA) also represented.

The day was well contested with some impressive soccer skills on display from many teams.

Perth and Bunbury Police showed early they were hungry to take home the honour of winning the trophy, however HMAS Westralia and the All Stars were also keen to have their names engraved for 2003.

The final was contested between Perth Police and Bunbury Police in a very even and entertaining match. Perth Police held out the Bunbury boys to win 2-0 and defend their title.

CMDR Alexander (then CO Westralia) presented the winning team with the trophy and was also called upon to present the winning Navy team trophy to HMAS Westralia.

GOLF

The annual Kaman Cup golf day was contested at Nowra on November 24, with 256 players slugging it out on a somewhat sodden track.
