A member of HMAS Sydney stands proud next to his work at Ashfield Infants Home.
Fourteen members of HMAS Sydney’s (CMDR Michael Van Balen) crew have lent a helping hand at Ashfield Infants Home.

Crew members spent Thursday, October 23 providing manual labour in areas including painting, storerooms, laying concrete, cleaning gutters and general cleanliness of the grounds in preparation for the home’s fete.

HMAS Sydney has been affiliated with the charity organisation since 1968, which has provided services for children and their families since 1874.

Last year alone the infants home worked with 900 children and 797 families.

Once the work was completed, Sydney crew members challenged the kindergarten class to a game of footy on the lawn and participated in their teddy bear picnic.
