CPOCIS Jerry Nockles received his promotion to Chief Petty Officer earlier this month from Chief of Navy VADM Chris Ritchie and Warrant Officer-Navy, David Turner.

CPO Nockles is WO Turner’s assistant. His duties in this role see him in a direct support role to WO-N as well as managing the staff within Chief of Navy’s office.

CPO Nockles enlisted in the RAN in 1985. After completing training as a Signalman, he was posted to DEFCOMMARS Canberra, HMAS Harman, prior to commencing sea postings in HMAS Adelaide and Darwin.

While serving in HMAS Brisbane, CPO Nockles saw active service in the Persian Gulf War of 1991. He has since served in HMAS Swan and HMAS Adelaide where he participated in the rescue of yachtsmen Bullimore and Dubois, and more recently in HMASWarramunga.

He was also a Fleetwork Instructor at Communications School, Cerberus.

CPONockles’ posting with WO-N is expected to last two years.
