New faces on DHA board

By Graham Davis

There have been two new appointments to the Board of the Defence Housing Authority.

Mr Peter Jones has been appointed chairman while Mr Wayne Stokes comes in as a director. DHA is the statutory authority responsible for providing homes for Defence personnel and their families across Australia.

Over the next three years more than $1 billion will be spent on new and upgraded DHA homes.

Mr Jones had a distinguished parliamentary career serving Western Australia as Minister for Housing, Fisheries and Wildlife, Conservation of the Environment, Minister for Education, Cultural Affairs and Recreation and the Minister for Resources Development, Mines, Fuel and Energy.

He replaces DHA’s outgoing chairman Mr Peter Jollie who has been commended for his contribution to DHA over the past six years.

Mr Stokes has extensive expertise in the housing industry. Recently he was a member of the National Capital Authority, a member of the Mawson Lakes Economic Development Joint Venture Committee, chair of the South Australian Urban and Regional Development Advisory Committee, a board member of the MFP Development Corporation, South Australian chair of the Indicative Planning Council and a member of the National Indicative Planning Council Infrastructure Committee.

The appointments were announced by the Minister Assisting the Minister for Defence, Mrs Danna Vale and the Special Minister of State, Senator Eric Abetz.
