Bittersweet day at CI for 06
A recent sports day on Christmas Island held both victory and defeat for HMAS Newcastle. In sweltering humidity and 30 degree heat, a series of sports events were played throughout the day, including netball, soccer, softball, touch football, cricket and basketball.

Fast and furious
The ledger of tournament wins for the two combatants in the men’s final of the ADF Hockey Championships, NSW and Queensland, now reads NSW seven, QLD seven.

Run and a half
ADF runners recorded several outstanding results at the 2003 ADF State Teams Half Marathon in Canberra on May 18.

Navy valiant in defeat
The Navy men’s rugby union side played a perfect hour before being overrun in the final 20 minutes by Army for the national interservice championship at North Sydney Oval on June 14.

Ski week still on
The Navy Ski Week 2003 (incorporating the Interservice Selection Trials) set down for August 3-10 at Mt Buller, is definitely on said the chairman of championships, LCDR Adrian Pay.

The Navy women’s rugby union side cut themselves a slice of history defeating Army for the first time at the 2003 ADF Interservice Rugby Union Carnival at North Sydney Oval on June 14.
