Navy civilian employees are now in a position to protect themselves
against deadly influenza strains thanks to the recent introduction
of the Navy Civilian Influenza Vaccination program, N-CIV.
The N-CIV program has been endorsed by CDRE Russ Crane, Australian
Navy Systems Commander. Interstate programs are now being coordinated
for Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Wollongong and Nowra regions.
The N-CIV program is a targeted Navy civilian health and wellbeing
initiative developed under the Defence Employees Certified Agreement
(DECA) 2002-2003.
The DECA provides for the development of programs and strategies that
promote the health and fitness of employees.
Australian vaccine manufacturer, CSL Limited supply the single dose,
prepacked Fluvax vaccines used in the N-CIV program.
Vaccination is by injection given by a registered health practitioner
and for 2003 provides protection against the viruses A/New Caledonia,
A/Moscow and B/Hong Kong.
Navy has contracted Health Services Australia to deliver the 2003
program.
If you are interested in obtaining more information about the N-CIV
