On the weekend of April 26-27, track and field athletes from the
Navy, Army, Air Force and
Defence civilians converged on Albury for the ADF Inter-Service
Track and Field Championships, held in conjunction with the Victorian
Country Athletics Championships.
A strong showing from all three services meant competition would
be tough. Country Victoria had 20 clubs participating with many
athletes striving for a position at State titles.
SMNCK
Alex Minney from HMAS Cerberus came first in the 110m mens
hurdles, setting a new ADF record and beating athletes from country
Victoria.
SMNCD Daniel Fisk was first in the 200m, setting a new ADF record.
Two upcoming Navy athletes, SMNMT Kerryn Seaborn and RCTMT Shanelle
Seaborn received five gold and four silver medals between them.
LSPT Michael Hutchesson from HMAS Albatross ran an outstanding
personal best 400m beating the Army athletes.
LEUT Jeff Rayner was busy all weekend competing in all mens
veterans events and at times found the opposition tough.
Mrs Debra Shand from HMAS Cerberus set a new ADF record in the
100m womens 35+ event.
Navy was represented by: LEUT Jeff Rayner, CPORS Andy Horsburgh,
MIDN Ryan Kelly, POPT Vanessa Dickson, LSPT Michael Hutchesson,
ABMUSN Luke Bradbury, SMNCD Daniel Fisk, SMNET Daniel Hooper,
SMNCK Alex Minney, SMNMT Kerryn Seaborn and RCTMT Shanelle Seaborn
and ASO2 Debra Shand.
