The ship's company of HMAS Geraldton (LCDR
Terry Morrison) traveled 100km south of Darwin to Adelaide
River for ANZAC Day this year.
They took part in the local dawn service at the Adelaide
River war ceremtery, which is the largest war cemetery on
the Australian mainland. Many military and civilian personnel
who fought and died in Darwin during WWII are buried at
the cemetery. Adelaide River was also the staging area for
over 30,000 diggers during the war.
After completion of the dawn service the ship's company
of Geraldton were invited to a gunfire breakfast at the
Adelaide River Show Society, known affectionately by the
locals as the ARSS Club.
The crew participated strongly in the traditional game of
two-up and fortunately most of their money went to the house
with proceeds going to Legacy.
