RAN
joins DMO CSIG in business model
By
CAPT Jim Parsons
Early in April Navy entered into customer - supplier agreements
with the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) and Corporate Services
and Infrastructure Group (CSIG).
These agreements are the first of this type ever signed by Navy,
are a significant step in the implementation of the New Business
Model in Defence and will provide the foundation for a sound business
partnership between Navy and other parts of Defence.
They will provide the umbrella agreement to support more detailed
Service level agreements at the working level.
The agreements outline the responsibilities of both parties, services
that will be provided, performance and reporting arrangements, conditions
of employment for Navy people in DMO and CSIG, and a framework for
the ongoing building of a good working relationship.
They are the culmination of long negotiations by both the Navy Business
Management Branch in NHQ and Systems Command Headquarters, together
with teams from both DMO and CSIG.
These negotiations, although prolonged, have been really good in
getting the relationship developed at the working level. The have
also proved useful in providing a high level problem solving forum.
The current agreements are only the start of a process. We will
now build on the experience gained so far, further develop the agreements
to better suit Navys needs and ensure value for money in service
delivery.
