ADF Transition Seminars at a base near you

On July 1 2001 the Career Transition Assistance Scheme (CTAS) was introduced replacing the Discharge Resettlement Training scheme.

CTAS provides more flexible benefits and much wider access to career transition information for all ADF members. The emphasis is now on better use of knowledge and skills gained from ADF employment.

In line with the introduction of CTAS, the seminar has been renamed from Resettlement Seminar to ADF Transition Seminar, to better reflect its purpose.

The aim of the ADF Transition Seminar is to aid members in their preparation for the transition to civilian life, by providing an awareness of various matters, which may require consideration.

The seminars are held over three days and are held periodically in capital cities and some provincial cities.

You don’t have to be discharging to attend in fact it is recommended that all members contemplating discharge within the next five years attend, and again before your actual discharge date. However, anyone may apply at any time. Early attendance helps you to plan for your transition.

To apply to attend all you need to do is complete a form AD144, available from WEB Forms or the Websites below, and forward it to your local Resettlement Officer.

The seminars cover superannuation, career transition assistance scheme, Reserve service, taxation, health insurance, resume writing, job search and discharge processes, just to name a few. Attendance by spouses is encouraged.
