When full-time naval command security officer and part-time car racer Kerry McCombs asked for volunteers to help in the pits at the national titles, POSN Scott (Ossie) Burnard, Naval HQ SA, volunteered and brought his son Tony along for the ride.

Kitted out with team shirts and hats, Tony and Scott met with Kerry and his crew chief/fiancée Annamaria at Speedway City Adelaide.

Kerry said his new crew members were a great help over the two nights of racing, finishing with a third in the heats and a fifth in the B Main final.

“We all had a good time and came away with a little bit of damage instead of a trophy. Oh well, that’s racing,” said Kerry.

His next race is at the Queensland titles over the Anzac Day weekend.
