Coastal minehunter Yarra sailed for the first time a fortnight ago as a ship of “Her Majesty”.

With a ship’s company of 40 and under the command of CMDR Alex Hawes, the “plastic fantastic” departed her Waterhen base on March 17.

Following her commissioning on March 1, the warship is now doing “workups” in readiness for her operational readiness evaluation.

Yarra is the sixth and final Huon class minehunter built by ADI Ltd in Newcastle as part of a $1 billion contract.
