Come
fly with Navy
By FLGOFF
Matt Doyle
Following the 2002 ADF Parachute Association (ADFPA) National Championship
in November and December last year, a Navy team is sought for the
2003 championships.
More than 130 military competitors from Australia and overseas competed
in the skies over RAAF Base Wagga in five disciplines last year,
making it one of the most successful events yet.
Competition was fierce but the ADF competitors were dominated by
the international teams who scooped the prize pool.
The ADFPA is particularly interested in receiving nominations from
Navy members interested in forming a single-Service team this year.
The operational tempo in recent years has seen a marked decrease
in Navy competitors available for competition.
The event is open to all ADF members, including reservists, holding
a current APF B licence. Military qualified jumpers holding military
free-fall qualifications are also eligible to compete.
Personnel with less than 50 jumps are strongly encouraged to continue
training in order to obtain the minimum licence and nominate for
the event.
The event this year will be held from December 1-12 at RAAF Base
Wagga. To register your interest in forming a team or to have your
name placed on the ADFPA e-mail list, please contact: Captain Neale
McIver, ADFPA president, 07-3332 7742, neale.mciver@defence.gov.au.
