Wanted: Volunteer Memorial guides

The Australian War Memorial is seeking volunteer guides to conduct guided tours and assist visitors to the Memorial.

In 2002 the volunteer guides provided valuable assistance to approximately 900,000 Australian and international visitors.

The volunteer guide program came into being in 1977 and over the last five years has helped approximately 4,500,000 visitors.

The Memorial currently has 223 volunteer guides and needs to increase this number to cope with increased visitation numbers.

Volunteers come from all walks of life including ex-ambassadors, military personnel, mums, dads and students.

The Memorial will provide training for all new volunteer guides and welcomes all those interested to apply.
