Trainees and visitors to RAAF School of Technical Training at Wagga Wagga are now greeted by two new symbols of Naval history.

An eight ton anchor from the aircraft carrier HMAS Sydney and a propellor from a Bathurst Class corvette are on permanent display, mounted on concrete blocks.

The anchor lies outside the Airmen’s Mess and the propellor outside Navy administration. Both items have been loaned from the Naval historical collection.

The Airmen’s Club has already acquired Navy, Army and RAAF memorabilia to decorate the Club and displays are planned to include uniforms, squadron history boards and ensigns give trainees a ready reference to their parent Service.

Both the anchor and the propellor are significant and highly visible Naval icons and together help provide a recognition of over ten years of permanent RAN involvement at RAAF STT.
