Adams honoured on Australia Day

a junior recruit in 1968.

Chief
of the Defence Force, GEN Peter Cosgrove, recently presented RADM
Brian Adams, currently serving as Head Defence Personnel Executive,
with his Clasp - Defence Force Service Medal for 35 years service,
as well as the Australian Service Medal (1945-75).
It has been a rewarding time for the admiral. In the 2003 Australia
Day honours list he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia
(AO) for distinguished service to the Australian Defence Force and
the Royal Australian Navy as Commandant of the Australian Defence
Force Academy, and as Deputy Chief of Navy. In 1997 he was made
a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to training
and warfare capability development.
Since joining the Navy as a junior recruit in 1968, RADM Adams has
served on a wide variety of vessels, including patrol boats, landing
craft and ships, and destroyers. He has served in exchange with
the Royal Navy and has commanded HMAS Tarakan and HMAS Tobruk.
RADM Adams previous postings include the Australian Joint
Warfare Establishment as the RAN Director and HQADF where he worked
in capital equipment programming, preparedness and resource policy
development, commandant of the RAN College, and Director of Naval
Warfare in Maritime Headquarters.
