Moving mountains

Careers Adviser POB Dieter O'Regan points out the features of Manoora to a prospective applicant.
Careers Adviser POB Dieter O'Regan points out the features of Manoora to a prospective applicant.
Staff at Defence Force Recruiting Brisbane took a one metre long replica of HMAS Manoora to the streets recently.

Using the philosophy of when Mohammed can’t come to the mountain, SBLT Rob Cucchi said, “The reason for the model is to provide some idea of the equipment we use and how it works, to the public who don’t normally get the opportunity to see this stuff up close and personal.”

Recruiting new sailors from regional areas always presents a challenge, particularly when young prospects do not have much opportunity to see our ships up close.
Supplied by Brisbane company Military Craft, the model is hand crafted in mahogony.

The forward landing deck features two LCM8’s, and on the aft flight deck there is a Sea King and an army Blackhawk helicopter.

Military Craft have more photos on their website militarycraft.com.
