Basketball
ADF Combined Services Basketball Championships at RAAF Base Wagga from November 8-16 in a state against state format. Further information from CPL Ken Robertson on 02-6937 4123.

Cricket

The 2002 ADF National Cricket Carnival will be held in Brisbane from November 13-15. The New Zealand Defence Force has been invited to attend for the first time to compete against the best the Australian Services can muster. At the completion of the carnival, the ADF national team will be named, with matches planned against the Queensland Bulls U19s and the New Zealand Defence Force Team.

Golf

ADF Golf Association’s 18th annual National Golf Championships at the Federal Golf Club in Canberra from December 9-13.

• The Naval Golf Association of NSW is hosting the 2002 Sir David Martin Charity Golf Day on Thursday, November 14 at the Camden Valley Golf Club. Further information from PO Wiggy Bennett on 02-9377 2892, or email Wayne.bennett1@defence.gov.au.

Gliding

The Australian Services Gliding Association (ASGA) will conduct the National Inter-Service Gliding Championships at the NSW Riverina town of Leeton from December 27 to January 10. Further information from ASGA representative SSGT Denis Lambert on 07-4691 7928 or email denis.lambert@defence.gov.au.

Running

Special prizes will be up for grabs at this year’s HMAS Penguin Gate to Gate 5km fun run and powerwalk on Wednesday, November 20 at 11am. Entry is free and prizes will become collectibles, with certificates issued to all entrants. Entries must be received by November 15 to POPT Peter Swift on 02-9960 0275.

• This year’s Bonshaw Cup at HMAS Harman will incorporate Melbourne Cup day on Tuesday, November 5, getting under way from 11am. Format is a 6km run or 2km walk, with all levels of ability encouraged. Further information from POPT Mark Barrett on 02-6266 6613 or 0416-265039.

Soccer

Softball

The Australian Defence Softball Association National Championships will be held at RAAF Base Richmond from November 18-22. Further information from CPO Melinda Dagg on 02-9960 0502.

Tennis

The 2002 Carr Cup Singles (November 6) and Burrill Cup Doubles (November 13) will be held at Randwick Barracks. Ships and establishments encouraged to enter as many teams/individuals as possible. Further information on either event from LSPT Damien Liddell on 9359 2405.

Touch Football

The ADF Touch Association National Championships will be held at Randwick Barracks in Sydney from December 7-10. Further information from ADFTA secretary MAJ Michelle Breen on 02-6266 7423.
