Harman rookie impresses

Team captain LSATA Phillip wicket-keeping against the Seven Seas side in Dubai.
In his first year of senior rugby league, SMNCIS Josh Hansen made a significant contribution to the Harman Rugby League Football Club, with his efforts rewarded at the club’s recent presentation night.

After earlier winning the award for Best Service Player, five-eighth Hansen and prop forward John Gafa were named Best and Fairest for the 2002 season.

The Harman sailor also polled well in the Player of the Year trophy after becoming the club’s highest point scorer for the season, amassing 158 points, which included 14 tries.

HMAS Manoora’s rugby team will receive a welcome addition when 19-year-old Hansen joins the ship in the coming months following his participation in the CASRL competition, representing the NSW Country team and then selected in the Australian side.

The Harman RLFC presentation night was an outstanding success.

Club veteran Gavin Smith was the best defender for an outstanding third straight season, whilst POCIS Andrew Harris was awarded the coveted Paul Cardin Clubman of the Year trophy.

President Guy Randell reflected on a successful season, with plans to go one better than this year’s preliminary final appearance.
