Four Navy players in national squad

Four Navy rugby league players have gained selection in the Combined Australian Services Rugby League (CASRL) side, picked after the recent championships in Sydney from October 3-7.

SBLT Dave Wallis from HMAS Albatross was given the special honour of being named vice-captain of the squad, which features 20 players, six support staff and a further eight shadow players.

The other Navy players selected are: ABATA Kurt Simpson (HMAS Albatross), SMNCIS Josh Hansen (HMAS Harman) and shadow player Shane Farley (Defence Plaza Sydney).

The CASRL side was selected for games during this and next year.

CASRL president WO2 Grahame Cavanough said games at this stage could be against a NSW Correctional Services side and a Victorian State side.

He said he is also pushing for the side to be included in the Arafura Games to be held in Darwin from May 17-24, 2003 featuring top sides from throughout Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
