The
Standard Defence Supply System Upgrade Project (SDSSUP) is on track
for full progressive rollout to users in March-June 2003.
The project, which will implement a single supply chain across the
three services, uses an upgraded version of the core MIMS software.
This will introduce a standard financial management and performance
measurement framework, improved visibility of inventory and assets,
improved data integrity and an electronic procurement capability.
Inventory to be managed includes equipment spares, consumables,
rotables, specialist military equipment, medical and dental (excluding
pharmaceuticals), non-bulk fuel and ammunition.
The SDSSUP will deliver enhanced abilities in areas such as cataloguing,
inventory tracking and management, as well as shelf life and repairable
item management.
The project will also incorporate eProcurement capability, a ROMAN
interfacing financial management framework and MMM business process
re-engineering.
SDSSUP Trainer training will commence in January 03 and will be
provided to those commercial and Defence trainers delivering the
programme.
A pre-Go Live conference and Help Desk support training will be
held immediately prior to the technical conversion of the system
software, planned for March 3, 2003.
Progressive site training will commence in February at Joint Logistics
Unit South (JLU-S) and RAAF East Sale. This will entail an overview
seminar for all users and customers and classroom-based, instructor-led
training. This will occur at all sites no later than four weeks
prior to each sites scheduled Go Live date.
On completion of rollout, the project will hand over responsibility
to the Materiel Systems Branch (MSB) within the Defence Materiel
Organisation (DMO). MSB will be responsible for ongoing system support,
user assistance and the management of a common training curriculum
for all user organisations.
