DFRT to hear ADF pay case
Tribunal to meet on 18-month agreement

A proposal for an ADF-wide pay increase is set for a Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal hearing on November 1.

The current ADF Enterprise Productivity Arrangement expires on November 11 and will be replaced by the ADF Workplace Remuneration Arrangement 2002-2004. CDF and the Service Chiefs have authorised the release of the Consultation Draft Arrangement for member’s consideration.

As a minimum, every ADF member should have access to the core information package, which consists of a key features summary, the Draft Arrangement and an ADF Conditions of Service Update.

Assistant Director Industrial Policy Martin Kennedy, said members were encouraged to seek out this information.

“Briefing tours and additional briefing material for the commanders, managers and supervisors of ADF members are also available,” he said.

“Units and workplaces where ADF members serve have been asked to support members needing access to information, especially where they do not have ready access to web-based material.”

Essential elements of the package include an 18-month duration, 6% total pay rise, recognition of the special characteristics of ADF service and the remuneration system that supports.

Mr Kennedy said the arrangement did not stand-alone, but complemented existing ADF conditions of service and employment.

“Limiting the scope of the arrangement to focus on core salary and conditions of service allows Defence the flexibility to review allowances and other conditions of service that reflect the special characteristics of military service, on a case by case basis, outside of the timeframes applicable to the duration of this arrangement.
“The Directorate of Salary and Allowances, for example, will continue to develop and monitor pay and allowance structures in the ADF in this time frame.”

Questions and feedback on the proposed arrangement are encouraged and members can pursue inquiries by contributing views through the Service chain of command, during one of the briefing team visits or by contacting the Directorate of Salary and Allowances.
