HMAS Albatross has won the 2002 Adelaide Cup Touch Football competition for the second consecutive year, defeating AUSCDT ONE in a thrilling final.

Conducted at Randwick Barracks, the Cup attracted 15 teams from Sydney based ships and establishments.

This was broken into three pools of five teams in a round robin format, with each team playing a minimum of four games.

HMAS Albatross, HMAS Penguin and AUSCDT ONE soon established themselves as strong favourites for the title.

The semi-final saw HMAS Albatross One defeat HMAS Albatross Two (7-2) and AUSCDT ONE defeated HMAS Penguin (2-0) in a closely contested match.

In the grand final, HMAS Albatross defeated AUSCDT ONE (3-0) in a game of skill and spirit, ensuring the Cup’s journey south.

AUSCDT ONE took home the Benny Hill Plate as runner-up, replacing 2001 Plate winner, HMAS Waterhen.
