Queen's Birthday Honours
June 24, 2002
The dedication and outstanding
efforts of 13 Naval personnel were recognised in the annual Queens Birthday
Honours List on Monday 10 June.
The members are:
MEMBER (AM) IN THE MILITARY DIVISION
CAPT Stephen Harold Hooke, CSC, Canberra
For his exceptional service to the Royal Australian Navy as the Chief of
Staff to the Commander Northern Command, Commander Australian Amphibious
Forces, and as the Training Authority - Maritime Warfare.
CAPT Peter David Jones, Canberra
For his exceptional service to the Royal Australian Navy, particularly as
the Commanding Officer HMAS Melbourne and as the Director of Naval Strategy
and Futures.
CAPT Davyd Rhys Thomas, HMAS Newcastle
For his exceptional service to the Royal Australian Navy as a senior naval
officer through personal commitment and dedication to professional excellence.
MEDAL (OAM) IN THE MILITARY DIVISION
CPO Robert Bruce Lee, Western Australia
For Meritorious service in the field of Anzac Class marine engineering maintenance
and operation.
CONSPICUOUS SERVICE CROSS (CSC)
CPO Melinda Anne Dagg, New South Wales
For outstanding achievement as the Lead Instructor, Working Environment,
at the Sailors' Leadership and Management Faculty, Navy Systems Command.
CMDR Aaron James Ingram, West Australia
For outstanding achievement as Commander Plans at Maritime Headquarters.
CMDR Robert Gale Morrison, Canberra
For outstanding Achievement as the Commanding Officer HMAS Manoora in support
of Operation RELEX.
WO Barry Pincombe, Victoria
For outstanding achievement as the Small Arms Training Officer at HMAS
Cerberus, in developing and delivering essential operational training to
the Fleet.
LCDR Paul Clive Scherr, New South Wales
For outstanding achievement while serving on exchange duty with the United
States Navy as the Officer In Charge of the Fleet Cryptographic Augmentation
Center, San Diego, USA.
CONSPICUOUS SERVICE MEDAL (CSM)
LEUT Stephen Arthur Alchin, Western Australia
For outstanding service as the Deputy Materiel Support Officer at the
Joint Logistic Unit - West.
LCDR Peter George Burley, New South Wales
For outstanding service as the Technical Training Manager with the
Aviation Training Authority.
CPO Bryan Stanley Southwell, HMAS Arunta
For outstanding service as Maintenance Planner at the ANZAC Sustainment
Management Office at Fleet Base West.
LCDR Michael Joseph Turner, USA
For outstanding service while serving aboard HMAS Anzac as the Task
Group Operations Officer for Operation DAMASK X.
