2001 has been very busy which has meant our ships' companies and families have been faced with many different challenges. As usual, you have met all the challenges and have done what has been asked. All of you have every right to be proud of your achievements.

For a number of reasons many of us will be deployed over the Christmas period and there are some others that are needed for duty in Australia. My best wishes go to those people and I hope you are able to enjoy your Christmas despite being away from your family and friends.

For those of you who will be able to have some time with your families I hope you enjoy the Christmas holiday and have some well-earned rest.

To all of you, Colleen and I wish you and your families a merry Christmas and pass our best wishes for the New Year to you all. Be careful and take care of each other.
