Lismore cadets seek to be best

September 3, 2001

Training Ship Lismore, the Australian Navy Cadet unit in Ballina, is targeting the top spot in the country.

The unit currently hold the Peter Ballesty Trophy for the most efficient Navy cadet unit in New South Wales & ACT.

The National Award is hotly contested around the country particularly in New South Wales.

LEUT Carol Horn, the Commanding Officer of TS Lismore is very proud of her ships company and its achievements.

She said, "After a lot of hard work, it is brilliant to see their efforts come to fruition".

CAPT Gavin Reeves, the National Cadet Commander is presently assessing cadets units.

He is very humbled though by the consistant and tireless efforts of his staff.

"Without all the volunteer staff, particularly the commanding officer's, many of the cadet units would not be able to achieve the high standards they do," CAPT Reeves said.

Meanwhile LEUT Horn has been nominated for a Citizen of Youth Community Award.
