The 2000 Jubilee Shield hockey competition was contested at the Little Bay Sporting Fields at the University of New South Wales late last month.

Six teams, representing HMAS ALBATROSS, HMAS KANIMBLA, HMAS KUTTABUL, HMAS PENGUIN, RAAF Richmond and HMAS WATSON, took part.

The format of the competition was a round robin where all teams played against each other.

RAAF Richmond was the overall winner, receiving a visitors trophy.

The Jubilee Shield reserved to naval units, was contested between HMAS KANIMBLA AND HMAS ALBATROSS.

After the normal time of 20 minutes the score was 0 - 0 so a further 10 minutes were played.

At the end of this additional period the score-line was still 0 - 0 so a penalty shoot out was ordered.

This was won by KANIMBLA 2 - 0.

The Jubilee Shield is HMAS KANIMBLA's first major knockout trophy.
