Weighty affair in PENGUIN

April 17, 2000

Taking the weight…LCDR Peacock hands the helmet to LCDR Gough
Changing the "weight" was a weighty affair at HMAS PENGUIN.

Emerging from a walk along the bed of Sydney's Middle Harbour in a vintage standard diving suit, the commanding officer of AUSCDTONE, LCDR Jon Peacock handed his heavy brass helmet to his replacement LCDR Mike Gough.

The changeover took place at the conclusion of a swimming carnival in which CDT ONE and the members of the Diving School participated.

LCDR Peacock took command of the team in April, 1998 serving recently in East Timor. He posts to the Mine Warfare Systems Centre.

LCDR Gough comes to the job from being the Operational Readiness Evaluation Officer with the Sea Training Group.

More than 50 people were present on the wharf to watch the handover ceremony.
