ADELAIDE's Pair Of Cups

The Royal Australian Navy's highest efficiency award, the Gloucester Cup, was formally presented to HMAS ADELAIDE by the Governor General, Sir William Dean.



The 4,100 tonne FFG and her complement of 210 officers and sailors, also received the Commodore Wardle Cup.

The Commanding Officer of ADELAIDE, CAPT Lee Cordner accepted the cup in a ceremony on the flight deck of his ship.

 

The Gloucester Cup is presented annually to the ship or submarine displaying best overall efficiency.



The fiercely contested award entitles the holder to display gold stars on its bridge wings for the following year.



The Commodore Wardle Cup is awarded to the ship, establishment or communications centre providing the most outstanding communications service in or for the fleet.
