A Royal Australian Navy officer has dived over for a try helping Australia's national women's Rugby Union team the Wallaroos score a convincing win against Wales.

LEUT Nyree Osieck, (pictured) is the Staff Officer/Logistics at the Mine Warfare and Clearance Diving Task Group based at HMAS Waterhen.

She plays open side winger for the Wallaroos.

Nyree and another Defence member, LT Jennifer Egan of 21 Construction Squadron based in Brisbane, left Australia with the "Wallaroos" earlier this month to take part in the IRB Women's World Cup staged in Barcelona.

The Australian women will compete against 15 other countries including New Zealand, England, the US and Canada.

The "Wallaroos" first match was against Wales on May 13.

Nyree was named in the run-on side and went in for a five pointer, her first try for the Wallaroos.

The Australian women went on to win 30 nil.

Next game will be against New Zealand who defeated Germany 117 to nil.

Nyree's IRB representation is the second in which she has made for her country.

She played for Australia in a Test Series against England last year.

Before leaving for Barcelona she told Navy News, " it's a tough draw.

"We finished fifth at the last World Cup but as we do not have as much access to international teams as those in Europe and North America, we have been given a tough pool that includes the Kiwis.

"We are, however, very confident and we will do much better than last time," she said.
