1 SAS Sqn has become the first ADF unit to be awarded a Unit Citation for Gallantry. The award was announced on Thursday November 28 as part of the Op Falconer honours list which recognised the ADF's contribution to the defeat of Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq this year.

The Federal Government has announced that as part of the Defence Capability Review, Army's ageing Leopard 1 main battle tanks are to be replaced. Although a choice has not been made, the Government says the decision will be between the US M1A2 Abrams, the German Leopard 2 and the British Challenger 2.

Urinanalysis identified soldiers in 1 Bde who had been using illegal drugs. About 100 suspects gave samples after investigation by MPs and NT police. Soldiers in 1 Bde have spoken out against drug use by colleagues because it places their lives at risk.
