Frank and fearless
THE passionate and blunt views of soldiers have been expressed by the Armys senior soldier to the top brass at the Chief of Army Conference held in Canberra early last month.
The annual conference was CA Lt Gen Peter Leahys chance to call together Armys senior leadership, including all brigadiers and major-generals to examine what the Army was doing right and what could be improved on.
Lt-Gen Leahy asked RSM-A WO Brian Boughton to present a soldiers perspective of the Army. |

THE Army has begun using Defences first central training management system for range and field-firing activities.
About 650 users of Army training areas are now booking their range and field-firing activities through the Defence intranet. |

Paw Print - 3CER builds unique Third World village
3CER recently completed the clean up stage of its visionary shanty town at High Range, leaving a substantial paw print.
The project has been in construction since July last year after CO 3CER Lt-Col Bill Sowry tasked the regiment to build a state-of-the-art training facility to replicate the infrastructure and environment which soldiers have encountered during recent overseas deployments. |

THE Armys key role in the defence of Australia against terrorism has been strengthened with the raising of two specialist units.
The Incident Response Regiment (IRR) and the Tactical Assault Group East (TAG-E), based at Holsworthy Barracks in Sydney, have been officially unveiled as Australias military response to the September 11 attacks on the US by terrorists linked to the al Qaeda network. |
