DEFENCE Housing Australia has launched its improved HomeFind website to supplement the new housing classification policy (NHCP).
This new system for classifying houses for ADF members and their families came into effect on July 1 and will be phased in over 10 years.
ADF members and their families have been able to select their home in their new posting locality using the HomeFind web-based system since 2001. The new website contains enhanced navigation tools, a built-in help function, easier visibility of photos and floor plans, provision of contributions payable for each house, improved mapping facilities and self-managed passwords.
The number of homes visible when ADF members log on to HomeFind depends on whether other members leaving that locality have confirmed the timing of their move with DHA. This is done when members submit their application for relocation form, which allows the house that will become vacant to be released on HomeFind.
Early submission of AFRs ensures the maximum number of homes are available on HomeFind. This allows members and their families to choose a home and reduce the stress related to their relocation. Families will be able to plan matters such as schooling and spouse employment, and are likely to spend less time in temporary accommodation, according to Acting Head Personnel Executive Sue Parr.
“I am pleased that Defence and DHA successfully implemented the NHCP on July 1 because this marks a major advance in providing a high standard of housing for ADF personnel and their families,” Ms Parr said.
DHA Managing Director Michael Del Gigante said the new system of classifying properties and the new higher minimum standard would enable DHA to provide a more modern, versatile housing portfolio to better meet the needs of today’s ADF families.
If you had access to HomeFind before July 1 your login details are still active and will allow you to view the new HomeFind.
When you log in for the first time, you will be prompted to set a new username and password, which can be used whenever you wish to access any of DHA’s online services.
For ADF members with a new entitlement, an account is automatically created for you and your logon instructions and initial password will be supplied by letter.
