9CSSB has claimed the Simpson Trophy Competition for the third year running.
The team from 9CSSB scored 887 points in the rifle shooting event, with 3 Fd Sqn second on 818 points and Army Personnel Agency-Adelaide third on 816 points.
All ADF units in South Australia are eligible to enter the competition, which originated in 1890 as an annual rifle shooting match under service rifle shooting competition conditions.
The 2007 event marked the 117th year of competition for the Simpson Trophy, which Alfred Mueller Simpson first presented in 1890. Mr Simpson joined the First Volunteer Corps in 1861 and later transferred to the Adelaide Rifles.
This year, the trophy was presented by his great grandson, Richard Simpson.
