MEMBERS of RAInf Corps will be able to have a say in the future of the corps in a survey to be conducted throughout August and September.
Head of Corps Brig Mark Bornholt said it was vital for all RAInf ARA and ARes privates to WO2s within Australia and on operations to complete the survey.
“With the ever increasing complexity and demands being placed upon modern infantryman and the fact operational tempo is at its highest since the Vietnam War, it is not surprising the opinions, experiences and attitudes of infantry soldiers are a vital source of information in shaping the future of the corps,” Brig Bornholt said.
“The current environment, coupled with the fact that there has not been a review of the RAInf since the late ’90s, has been the catalyst for an Employment Category Review of light, mechanised and motorised infantry.”
HQ Combined Arms Training Centre and the Directorate of Strategic Personnel Planning and Research (DSPPR) will conduct the review.
“This process will inform the submission of a new pay and trade case to the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal in 2008,” Brig Bornholt said.
He said the success of the RAInf submission to the Tribunal would be fundamentally influenced by the information collected from the survey.
In a message to COs, Brig Bornholt said: “I understand the pressures of competing priorities on your units, but I stress the importance of this process for the future of the corps and the pay of our soldiers.”
Infantry units will receive an allocation of surveys through the mail system in early August for their members to complete.
Units are required to return the completed surveys to DSPPR. The report will be made available in early 2008 for viewing.
Instructions to units outlining the delivery of the RAInf survey will be provided through HQCATC. In the event that this is not the case or for further information contact Capt Jason Richardson, SO3 RAInf Trade and Training, atjason.richardson@defence.gov.au.
