SOLDIERS are invited to have their say about the suitability of the ADF combat boot.

Army and the Defence Materiel Organisation have commissioned Booz Allen Hamilton to undertake an independent technical review of the combat boot.

The review stems from the Government-commissioned ADF Clothing Review in 2006, which stated that it was unable to reach definitive conclusions regarding the quality of the boot and its fitness for function.

The combat boot review team will consult with personnel, senior leadership and relevant industry experts.

The consultants will engage podiatrists, boot design experts and testing laboratories to examine the fitness for function of the combat boot.

All ADF members are welcome to make submissions about the combat boot directly to the consultants.

Booz Allen Hamilton has designed an online survey that will be available online from July 26.

The survey constitutes one part of the independent technical review process. The review team will also be conducting site visits at Singleton, Puckapunyal, Holsworthy and Townsville during August. Once the actual dates, times and venue locations are finalised the tour schedule will be promulgated on the “Speak to the Chief” website.

DLog-A Col David Mulhall encouraged soldiers to contribute to the review by completing the online survey, or if the opportunity is provided, to participate in sample group discussions.

From July 26 the online survey can be found at http://www.boozallen.com.au/adfcombatbootsurvey
