FOREIGN Minister Alexander Downer has told the soldiers of Overwatch Battle Group(West)3 that the people of Australia have enormous pride in their professionalism and support them “110 per cent”.
“The people of Australia are very proud of the work that you are doing here to help the Iraqi people rebuild their country,” he said.
Mr Downer visited Camp Terendak on June 28 after conducting meetings in Baghdad with the Iraq Prime Minister, the Iraqi President and the Commanding General, Multi National Force-Iraq.
More than 500 OBG(W)3 soldiers gave Mr Downer a rousing welcome to Camp Terendak, located about 350km south of Baghdad.
Mr Downer told the soldiers “each and every one of you is a role model to many Australians because of the highly professional way you do your job”.
