ARMY’S Pte Dave Edwards proved the kingpin at the Australian Defence Tenpin Bowling Association Championships at Penrith when honours were shared among ADF and APS personnel.
It promised to be a high scoring championships with five of the six “300” bowlers competing, and that prediction held true for the contest from June 4-8.
The Masters event rounded out the competition with the top 16 bowlers going head-to-head to decide the Champion of the ADF.
After one of the highest scoring roll-offs witnessed at the ADTBA nationals, Pte Edwards, who was contesting the nationals for the first time, held on to win a thriller against LAC Jason Storr.
WO Mike Batey won the singles, while the doubles went to WOFF Corrina Logan and Maj Toni Hogan.
The ACT won the teams’ event with WOFF Logan, Elaine Wdowik (APS) and Leut Andrew Calderazzo being too strong on the day.
The GB plate was run as a handicap competition for the first time with top qualifier Brett Kleidon (APS) against Cpl Alan Pepper.
Cpl Pepper’s persistence paid off when he won a spirited contest.
