Bowled over and squashed

ADO players made sure to secure countless victories against their opponents at the Arafura Games in Darwin.

The following medal tally can be added to the results reported last issue:

Lawn Bowls – Army’s Cpl Dennis Roffe took the singles gold medal while a tri-Service team involving Wg-Cmdr Guy Wilson, Army Sgt Gerard Harkins, CPO Wade Vidulich and WO2 Ian Groves won bronze in the fours.

They also took silver in “best team” category.

Cycling – Army’s Cpl Jason Pelham took silver in the men’s time trial in 50.44 behind Nino Surban of the Philippines in 50.21.

Golf – individual silver for the women’s 72-hole gross event went to Lt Anna Webster on 320 strokes behind the Northern Territory’s Val Smith.

The women’s team won silver medals – not gold as previously reported – in the team 72-hole gross and net events.

RAAF’s Cpl Peter Reinke took gold with 272 in the men’s individual 72-hole net event and silver in the 72-hole gross with 292.

He also helped the men’s team to two gold medals in the 72-hole gross and net events.
