WO2 Wally Gibb successfully flew the flag for the Australian Defence Organisation in men’s shooting events at the Arafura Games with three gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

WO2 Gibb won the service pistol gold with 826 points from Flt-Sgt David Gay second on 824 points.
The pair combined with Peter Richards to take team gold with an aggregate of 2466 by beating another ADO team of Gary Ward, WO2 Gary Grossman and WO2 George Plessey into second with 2334 points.

WO2 Gibb also won the 25m centre-fire gold 48-41 in a shoot off with the NT’s Chris Harding after both had finished on 542.

That turned the tables on Harding, who had won the 50m pistol event with 493 points to WO2 Gibb’s 477, which was good enough for bronze.

WO2 Gibb also took bronze in the men’s 10m air pistol with 536 points.

ADO took silver and bronze in the 25m men’s standard pistol teams event with the second-placed team including WO2 Gibb, Cfn Brady White and Flt-Sgt Gay.

WO2 Gibb scored 78 and Cfn White and Flt-Sgt Gay 63 each.

The bronze went to WO2 Grossman, Ward and WO2 Plessey with scores of 85, 78 and 68.

ADO representatives also did well in golf and bowls team events.

Greg Fraser, Peter Hawken, Cpl Mark Patton and Cpl Peter Reinke won the men’s golf team, gross and net events with aggregates of 914 and 871.

The women’s team of Sqn-Ldr Debbie Baker Barb Postans and Lt Anna Webster won the gross and net events with aggregates of 1045 and 901.
