Manual makes a comeback

Edition 1167, May 31, 2007

Manual order: WO1 John Howell hands a service order to develop an eMPA Web Portal to Steve Coleman, Acumen Alliance, as SO1 Personnel Information Management-Army, Lt-Col Greg Tolcher, and Acumen Senior Business Solutions Manager Lloyd Matthews look on.
A SIMPLE statement from a warrant officer will have a profound effect on the delivery of information required to administer Army personnel and help to overcome the difficulties soldiers are experiencing with finding information on the Defence Restricted Network.

WO1 John Howell, the PMKeyS Module Coordinator for Personnel Administration over the past two years, last year declared to his boss, “Sir, we need the Manual of Personnel Administration back.”

His statement has led to a project to create an electronic Manual of Personnel Administration, or eMPA, that will be published in a new Army web portal on the DRN later this year.

The portal will group information and administrative doctrine into an easily navigable format for individuals, clerks and commanders. User feedback will be essential and the site’s design will take this into account.

Feedback can be provided to WO2 Leigh Storer, PIMS-A Bandiana Det, North Bandiana, Victoria or by emailing leigh.storer@defence.gov.au
