THE ADF Investigative Service (ADFIS) has held its first conference following the merging of Service investigators in early April.

The conference, held at RMC and attended by investigators from all Services, followed the merging of about 140 investigator and support personnel employed in investigation duties in Service police organisations under the operational control of Provost Marshal ADF Col Tim Grutzner.

“ADFIS is now established – and it’s an exciting time to be involved in policing, with improvements to training, opportunity for secondments with civilian police and opportunities to deploy,” Col Grutzner said.

“Investigators are now located in all major ADF deployed locations.”

The new joint unit provides a central point of contact for engagement with civilian policing authorities. It also offers investigators better career opportunities.

WO2 Kirsty James, 51 MP Pl, said the new organisation also enhanced communication between Service investigators.

“It’s great working with people from the same trade, and we will continually be updating our skills through this new organisation,” she said.

“I’d absolutely be interested in a secondment with the Australian Federal Police or state police – it’s all about training and experience, and the more you have the more you can pass down.

“It’s also an opportunity to make contacts with people who have specialised skills.”
