Supreme Commander
PC
(M)

The game: Supreme Commander is framed around three competing factions – the United Earth Federation representing the empire, Cybran Nation fighting for independence and what futuristic struggle is complete without an alien race. Play from the perspective of whichever side you wish to become the Supreme Commander.

The play: Simply put, the sheer size of the game is immense. Build your base, defend it, then build multiple sea, land and air battle groups and rain sheer havoc upon your opponents before they can do it to you.

The terrain: The graphics and individual detail is amazing.

The experience: Supreme Commander is a large scale real-time scenario that requires a large amount of concentration in order to maintain your situational awareness and requires skill in strategy not overwhelming numbers. One hint though – save regularly.

Race to the Rally
PS2
(PG)

The game: Race Harley Davidson motorcycles across the US to make it to the annual motorcycle rally in South Dakota.

The play: Very simple racing engine and without too much effort and despite multiple stacks and crashes you can still win each race and challenge. Win each event and get cash to upgrade your bike so that you can more easily beat all the other lazy riders out there. It’s a little strange in the way it decides to make you crash, especially over jumps; sometimes you become the human fireball and other times you’ll just stop.

The terrain: You’ll race over a variety of terrain but in the end it’s fairly straightforward and it’s difficult to tell either the speed you’re travelling or the different surfaces on which you’re travelling.

The experience: A child would master this quickly and get bored even faster.
