THE ADF’s over-30s men’s touch football team turned in an exceptional effort to make it to the finals of the Australian championships in Coffs Harbour from March 14-18.

ADF warriors won a tight semi-final 12-10 against Rustlers to qualify for the final against the Southern Suns, who had beaten Barbarians 12-0 in their semi.

Southern Suns proved too strong in the grand final, winning 12-2, with Sgt Ivan Petrovic (Air Force) and PO Nathan Softley the scorers for the Warriors.

The team was coached by Dennis Coffey and Pete Tunney with LS Nicky Falkner the manager.

Team members were: Mr Paul Ridder, Sgt Petrovic, PO Softley, WOFF Michael Lennon, Pte Manu Wakely and Flg-Off Matthew Souter.

The national tournament was the last engagement for the ADF senior men’s team for the year but the ADF men’s and women’s open teams will contest the NSW Country Championships in Dubbo on May 26-27 .

2008 ADF representative teams will be selected at the ADF championships in November.
